Can I get finacial aid now?

I am 20 and have a child and live with my boyfriend. Before I had my daughter I went to college and did not qualify. My daughter was born in May 07. Can I get aid if I apply for it for the 08 school year? Would I get it if I go only part time?

When you complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid – www.fafsa.ed.gov) it generates an EFC (Expected Family Contribution). Schools use the EFC in conjunction with the COA to determine what your financial aid package will be.

The FAFSA collects all sorts of information: your income, your household size, any dependents you have, any savings or assets, any goverment assistance you may receive, etc. All this information together is used to determine your EFC. And what you get will be different at each school since each school has a different COA.

You can complete the FAFSA for the 0809 school year starting after January 1, 2008. You will also want to check with your financial aid office to see if there is any in-house application you need to complete as well. Make sure that you have the FAFSA completed and any in-house application turned in by the school’s designated “on-time” or “priority” deadline (usually in March or April). If you are in the “on-time” group you have a better chance of getting any financial aid for which you are eligible; late students get what is left over or only loans for the most part.

Talk to a financial aid officer at your school for more information. Best of luck to you!

I’m not certain of what you didn’t qualify for exactly. You can always get loans if you have a financial need. Did you fill out the FAFSA? Now that you have a dependent your need will increase. Look for a number called the EFC to determine what they think you can afford to contribute to your cost of education. The higher the number, the less free money i.e. grants you’ll get. You can get loans as an independent student which will open up the door to two types. The subsidized and unsubsidized. You can get aid going part-time. It won’t be as much as if you went full-time. Full-time is only 12 credit hours(4 classes) a semester. hope this helps. You can start school in January and have aid to pay for it by then if you go ahead and fill out the Fafsa online and are already applied and got accepted into a school. You need a school’s code to put on your Fafsa because the cost of attending the school is factored into the estimated cost of your education and contribution to it.

yes, you could get financial aid for the 08 school year. financial aid programs such as FAFSA, if u apply, the earliest you can apply is January 2007 if you want to have financial aid for the 08 school year. If you decide to apply a month earlier, they’ll ignore your request for financial aid. As for the part time job, you’ll actually have a HIGHER chance of getting financial aid because you need it more. If they deny your request for financial aid, (i doubt dats going 2 happen!) but just in case, get a loan and keep working part time so dat you’ll be able to pay it off bit by bit.

Have your taxes ready and how much you earn in a year, ID, insurance, mother and father educational information, insurance # (if you have one) all at hand bcuz datz mostly what they’ll ask u

Read carefully and take your time if you apply for FAFSA, the application is a pain in the ***!!! its way 2 LONG!! lol

Good luck!! my brothers have the same thing going on just like you!! I wish you the best!!!

Yes you can get fin aid while going to school part time. Fill out your fafsa, reading all instructions carefully… If you are not married do not include current bf income or information. Do include yourself and your daughter in the household… not bf.

No one can tell you what you get until after you apply, but here is a Dept of Ed publication with all your options.

Good Luck !!

jml167 is real. all and sundry who applies for economic help is “soliciting for help,” yet some human beings could do extra suitable than others. and don’t pull that mess approximately how this is because you’re white which you will no longer get help off the bat. I could deliver in verification types with all of my tax types and W2, besides as my mom’s just to get my money and maximum persons do no longer, like they think of i’m mendacity on my FAFSA or something. And in case you may no longer tell, i’m black! My sister has to have her issues examined too and she or he’s black! guess what, my mom’s a skitzo too and that’s a soreness to get the archives from her each and every 365 days! yet I close up and do it because of the fact i choose the money. do exactly it and quit complaining. this is no longer that complicated to jot down a assertion and get ones from persons too.
