Are there any serious people on Yahoo Answers who can actually write Government Grants?

I mean write grants for others, like myself so that I can get a Grant just to live. To be able to have enough money at the end of the month to afford to eat? I am on SSI and I ‘never’ have enough money to eat by the end of the month. My doctor keeps telling me to eat better, but when you cannot afford anything more than top ramen, what can I do?

I wish I could help. I had to hire an attorney to help with getting conservatorship for my mom. Legal stuff and government stuff are so confusing to me. Best of luck to you. I hope you get some helpful answers.

Only goverment agencies and non-profit agencies can apply for grants. SSI is intended to be the bare minimum support. The Feds don’t want to encourage people to use it, lest their be no funding left for the truly needy. If you have any mobility at all there is probably a job you can do. The SSA can help you with it.

Most grants that I know of that require you to “write” for them are for agencies like non-profits and the funding goes towards employees salaries, benefits, travel, and very little – if any is direct cash towards individuals.Your search for “grants” is probably not coming up with anything because you really need to be looking for programs that offers assistance with food and nutrition.

You might want to consider contacting social service agency’s in your area and ask if they offer a “Meals on Wheels” program for people with disabilities or similar. Question everyone about food Stamps, church funded food banks, american red cross, salvation army, …

My experience in dealing with social services agencies – if you call asking for cash, you aren’t going to get anywhere.
