Applying for college is so tough and the financial aid process is hard also any suggestions?

Well I live in Alabama but I have a lot of family in Northern California so I am going to college there. I don’t want to and will not stay in Alabama. THe application process is so much ahrder than I expected though, I have a 4.33 weighted GPA 3.83 unweighted a 26 on the ACT and am in many leadership positions at my school and have a lot of service hours. I just can’t think of anything to write college essays on and it really discouraging. Also, It’s really depressing that when I get accepted I wil have to go throught so much stuff for financial aid. the colleges I’m looking at are like $46,000 a year and I have to get a lot of aid to get that down to a reasonable cost for my family…. somewhere around $5,000. It’s really stresing me out does anyone have any suggestions?

u are actually qualifies for many scholarships and grants just of your scores. that is pretty good!! first take things one at a time. the fafsa process is not as complicated as u think- it is rather easy, however do it online rather than on paper.u can do that on your own and thats free money from the federal gov that i dont have to pay back as long as u stay in school. with the fafsa thing u can do a little and then come back, and the essay part- i know u got it! write about somethin u know so much about and that is very inspiring to you ir about your life and why u deserve this award and just oh the list goes on and on

just put your mid to it… if u can sit here on yahoo answers, i promise u, u can write a excellnt essay and finish your fafsa. u just need to focus on you and what us important right now and go for it!!!

good luck!

An essay on how a good high school student has trouble finding financial aid would be cool. You’d learn in the research. I don’t know what else to say other than your average is amazing. Keep that up in college and you will be able to pay off your student loans within 5 years after you graduate.

DO NOT LISTEN TO WHAT hardcoredlw SAID!!!

i know how you feel because i felt the same way. don’t worry about the essay part because that’s one of the easiest part of the whole process. your score and gpa looks GREAT!!!, which means that you will get in that college anyway but m not sure about STANFORD (it seems like you’re trying to attend there, m i right?)… oh ya, FINANCIAL AID!!! yep, always tough… but don’t worry PRIVATE COLLEGES give out good money!!! and you should apply to SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS and other scholarship!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Unfortunately it is easier to get funding if you are above 25 years of age. My suggestion–Work for a couple of years then attempt to go to college. Plus it is easier for an older person to go to college than someone fresh out of high school. The professors are more lienate to older students.

Take it one step at a time. If you look at the whole thing at once its huge. Broken down into steps its just a bit at a time.
