Any of you know where i could ask for a scholarship for my son’s college education?

My son has always been no.1 in his class from 1st yr to 4th yr. high school. I’m a single parent with very low income. My son got to study in a good school thru the help of his dad. But now that he’s about to go to college, his dad said he will only help him go thru college if he will take up medicine in the university he wants our son to go to which would mean that my son will be on his own studying in another place with a course that he’s not really planning to take up. . I fear for his safety. My son intends to take up nursing to be able to finish earlier than if he would take medicine. He intends to go work in the states so he would be able to help his younger siblings with their education since he’s the only 1 who got to go to good school. If he takes up medicine, he’s afraid he might not be able to finish coz his dad is sick with cancer. The more reason why he would have preferred to take up nursing instead but his dad won’t help him if he doesn’t take up medicine.

Check with his high school guidance counselor. Also check with the financial aid office of the colleges or universities that he wants to attend. Many colleges will offer scholarship packages to students. There are income-based grants such as the government’s Pell grant, for low income students. The school’s financial aide office will have a list of all grants and scholarships available for that school and they can put together financial aid packages for you easier than if you tried to do it yourself. You can also search on the web if you prefer to try to do it yourself. If he has a high GPA and good SAT scores, he should have no problem getting financial help, all you need to do is contact the schools and let them know that you are seeking help.
