Self Description

Two words that could describe me ultimately are the words; resilient and tenacity. The word resilient means the ability to bounce back to the normal self when exposed to sickness, difficult times, hardship, immense changes and diversity. While describing a material or a substance it the ability to pick up its unique shape after being exposed to squeezing and stretching. It could also mean the ductility, flexibility and the ability to spring back to the normalcy. The opposite of the word could be flimsy, susceptible and frail. In day to day use the word could mean the ability to not succumb to stress and stressing situations and being able to withstand them. Tenacity on the other hand means determination and unrelenting willpower. It has more or less the same meaning as resilient. Tenacity means being able to withstand and perceiver in difficult times. (Bonnie, 2004).

The reason as to why these two words define me to the fullest is because I moved in to America from another country. I have now lived in the states for a long period of time. I had difficulties adapting to the new environment in the States. There were many barriers and obstacles but when I look back at the moment I know that for sure this experience taught me to become a better person. I was very perseverant since the cultures of the United States are totally different to the cultures of my origin. The language here is different, and the overall way of life is also very different. Despite of these challenges, diversity and immense change, I was able to withstand and I have now fully adapted to the American Culture. I decide to take my new environment as a part of life and due to this I have become a stronger person who is more independent, resilient and dogged.
