Good is a noun.

Well is an adverb.

So, if you are talking about “doing,” a verb, you need to use an adverb to describe (modify) it.

If you “do good” you are performing kind deeds and helping people: “Do good to those who hurt you.”

If you “do well” you are performing correctly. “I didn’t do very well on the math problems.”

Another correct way is:

“I hope you do good on your test”. this is perfect english but i am not saying its the best choice

so the sentence is incorrect because of “all”.

People so often get “good” and “well” mixed up, that I, for one, most often let it slide on by.

When a person says “I feel good” they are actually saying that their sense of touch is good; they should say “I feel well,” meaning that they aren’t sick, they feel fine.

In your sentence, “I hope you do good on your test” it sounds to an English major like you hope someone does a good deed on their test… “to do good” means to do a good deed, “to do well” means that the person might pass the test, they might do an action and do it well.

Look each word up in your dictionary and you will see long lists of how each word works best and why. And good luck to you!

You do something well, but a thing is good. The exception is verbs of sensation in phrases such as “the pie smells good,” or “I feel good.” Despite the arguments of nigglers, this is standard usage. Saying “the pie smells well” would imply that the pastry in question had a nose. Similarly, “I feel well” is also acceptable, especially when discussing health; but it is not the only correct usage.

I don’t know, it’s just grammar! That’s just the way it is!

I guess if you were to “do good” on your test, it would be like doing a good deed or something, whereas if you “do well,” you’re answering in a satisfactory way.

You could say something like “I hope you do a good job on your test,” that would be okay.

I am guessing on all of this.

Good is used as an adjective or a noun, not as an adverb. The sentence requires the adverb “well”, or you could say “I hope you all do good work on your test.”

The reason you would use do and not does has to do with singular and plural, not tense. Because “verbs” is plural, you must use “do” which is also plural. If you used “verb”, than you would use “does” because both are singular. Former English Teacher

It isn’t correct for no other reason than it isn’t. That’s just the proper form.
