Which way is correct/better?

I say “Congratulations you dont have ADD”

He says “Congratulatons you are not ADD”

What do you think???

Usually acronyms are treated in such a way that it would be appropriate to jam in the full phrase in there instead. That would make your version more correct.

Or you can turn the question on its head and get the same answer. Would you say “You are ADD” to someone? It sounds ridiculous… how could a person -BE- ADD?

(A person is not a disorder or a disease, they have it-or not, in this example.)If ADD in this example stand for attention deficit disorder, you are correct. Just say the complete words (versus the abbreviation) and you will know for certain that you are correct.

It’s the same with saying “you have OCD, you are OCD” it’s a Disorder so you’re saying you don’t have the disorder he’s saying he isn’t a disorder. You are correct. The people who say it the other way are annoying and very wrong.
