The use of ‘peak’ trefers to the beak or bill of a headdress, particularly a widow’s hood, and dates to 1530. So the term derives from a mourning hood worn by widows a long time ago.

From that origin, it now pertains to the v-shaped point formed by hair at the center of the hairline on the forehead. According to English folklore, a woman with a widows’ peak would be destined to outlive her husband.

Widows peak is the term used for someone who has a slighty humped back. It originated in the UK in the 1800’s. The story is that women would hang their head in sorrow and grief after becoming a Widow and therefore the “hump” would develop.
