Where did the expression “eyes in the back of my head” come from?

I read it was started by the British when they came to India. Hindus believe in the divine nature of the cobra, that it was like a God. The cobra’s hood has “eye-like” markings on the backside of it’s hood. So it had “eyes in the back of it’s head”.

not all phrases have to have ridiculous origins..it simply means that the person is all seeing.. though they may not be they want the other person (usually a child ot hink that they are) its possible that people just started saying it. when they wanted people to think that they couldnt get anything past them… idk i hope that helped

think further back to stories of medusa, who could not be surprised due to being able to see through the eyes of her serpent hairdoo, belived to be a derivative of a hindu icon of a deity that had eyes circling his entire head whose forte’ was fortune and war

It means that someone thinks that they have crystal balls, but that is not true there is no one that can know or see all things and that is how a lot of lies and misperceptions happen, the understanding can be real unclear and wrong at times
