The answer depends on the tool with which you are writing the letter.

If you’re using a keyboard on a computer, it would be the ENTER key.

If you’re using a newer typewriter, it would be the RETURN key.

If you’re using a REALLY OLD typewriter, it wouldn’t be a button at all but the CARRIAGE RETURN LEVER instead.

If you’re using a pencil, pen, or other writing instrument, you wouldn’t press any keys because it doesn’t have any.

Actually, if you are writing a letter, you don’t push any buttons.

If you are typing a letter, you can push enter or return on a typewriter
