“High maintenance” has both a literal definition and a figurative meaning. The literal use of the word simply means that it costs a lot to maintain a house, or a car, or an estate. The figurative meaning stretches the word to mean the emotional costs or burden of taking care of a woman, a man, or a mistress or just about anyone you’ve got to take care of. In usage, one might hear: “She’s a high maintenance broad.” That’s an example.

Well, my definition is someone who is very demanding and very diva-like. They might throw big fits for the most random situations and be very fussy.
