Getting stale or not, “whatsup” is a lazy and insincere way of getting the other person to start up the conversation. If you really want to know something the other person knows, just ask them. If you don’t, just say “Hi” and move on.

wasup was stale by the third time they ran the beer commercial years ago. nothing but lazy trash uses it now.
just about anything with proper grammar and pronunciation would be better. even , like, what the like, California dude, like, wants to , like, say to you

I got bored of saying “what’s up,” so now I just say “how’s it going.” That seems to work well. And I live in California. So if you use one of my California phrases out-of-state, you’ll be years ahead of the rest 🙂
