But yes, it does seem kind of like “punishment” for wanting to be knowledgeable. What I do is search to see if someone has already asked the question before, that way I do not loose any points. 🙂

But I do agree with you. It is like a punishment for wanting to know something. Now excuse me, one point to level 2 and I have to answer something else…

Now that I am at level 2, I will tell you that also it is to stop people advertising, or Yahoo! Answers would be full of ‘BUY THIS!’

And I also believe it is a way to stop spammers from posting a bazillion advertisements by limiting the amount of points you can “lose” in a day.

Also: You get the points back when you pick a best answer, <---------like this one.
