Syntax is the set of rules by which speakers of a language put together its words in ordered sequence.
In general, the most simple accepted syntax is Subject, Verb, Object.
The dog chased the cat.
However, English is a complex language and includes such items as subordinate clauses, temporal adverbs and other multilayered nasties.
Just remember that antecedents should be close to what they modify. That’s one of the biggest causes of confusion.
(bad syntax)
Driving down the road, an armadillo was seen.
(correct syntax)
We saw an armadillo as we drove down the road.
(The armadillo wasn’t driving, was it?)
