What is wrong with this sentence??

Well, aside from using two exclamation marks where none is warranted – your sentence is a statement, not an exclamation, I suppose you will want to claim that black is not color, but rather the absence of all color. And in a narrow sense you would be right.

But I would direct you to the remarks of no less a colorist than Henri Matisse, who compared the color black to the double-bass. He said this at an exhibition of his own works. That exhibition was entitled “Black is a Color.”

True, scientifically black is not a color. However, it is sometimes referred to an “achromatic color,” and in practice can be considered to be a color (e.g., a black cat or a black sheep).

So, there is nothing actually wrong with referring to black as a color!

It’s not a good idea to use the word ‘color’ twice in a sentence, especially when you are giving an explanation.

It would be better to say

‘Black is a dark color’. or

‘The color black is dark’.
