What is the correct abbreviation for “commissioner”?

This would be in regards to a state commissioner or a county commissioner. I have seen it abbreviated two ways: Cmmr. and Cmsr.

I have also seen it both ways. I work for an attorney and our county commissioners, when they sign a document, usually use “Comm.” which I think is completely wrong, but I won’t be the one to correct them! 🙂

‘s means is. So it’s = it is. What’s = what is. Don’t get mixed up with its, its is like saying that pencil is yours, hers, theirs etc and is possessive and does not require apostrophe. However, ‘s is possessive when it’s for a person; John’s pencil, and not Johns pencil.
