What is the best way to Study Vocabulary words?
Favorite Answer
As your work through the flash cards, put aside the ones you have mastered and continue to practice with the ones you don’t know. Soon, you’ll have just a small stack of cards and just a few words to learn.
First work on matching definitions and words. Move them around until you have matched all of the words. If your teacher is giving a matching test, this is all you have to do.
Second, have all of the words and definitions face up in two columns. Pick a word and look through all of the definitions to find the right answer. Do this for each word and definition. You can look at the other words or definitions to rule out other choices but you can’t lay them side by side. They must remain in two columns. This is a bit harder than the matching game because it isn’t as easy to rule out other matches.
Third, leave all the definitions out and put the words face down. Turn up one card at a time and match it to its corresponding definition. Then turn it back over and turn the next one up. Then reverse the process and turn over definitions one at a time.
Fourth, turn everything upside down in a pile. Turn over one card at a time and say the corresponding word or definition.
