A poser is someone who thinks a great deal of themselves and seeks to be the center of attention. The word ‘poser’ is used to indicate that they act like they are ‘posing’ for a photograph all the time.
The word used to describe someone who is pretending to be something they are not, I believe, is ‘poseur’
