I know this sounds dumb but I never saw a food stamp before . I was out shopping with my mom and I saw a sign on the store’s door saying “We accept food stamp” and I was wondering what the word “food stamp” means . Please answer !!

Food stamps are a government entitlement program for the poor. If you are poor enough then the government will help pay your way. People who are poor (below some magically income level) can purchase some “food stamps” from government offices. They pay something like $20 and receive $50 in food stamps. The stamps are then used like cash, and the government pays the difference through your taxes.

its welfare food but they aren’t in a stamp form now . they come on a card that’s a old sign . there was alot of fraud going on when they printed the food stamps in cash denomination’s. people use to sell food stamps for 50 cents on the dollar to get cash instead of food like they were ment to be used. its still a big scam costing tax payers millions to feed people who dont wanna work .
