A 4 year degree refers to a bachelor’s or undergraduate degree. However, it can take more than 4 years or less depending on how many classes you can complete in any given time frame. It took me 5 years; I had a young child and a sick husband. It took my daughter 5 years because she changed her major twice. Others I know have finsihed in 3 by attending classes straight through the summer and carrying heavy class loads during fall and spring semesters (more than 12 credit hours). Junior colleges, as far as I know, offer associate (2 year) degrees only which means you will eventually have to tranfer to a 4 year instution to finish your bachelor’s. Regardless of how you do it, do it. You’ll be SO glad you did!

4 year degrees are Bachelor’s degrees (B.A. B.S) and are not usually offered by community colleges. Although, recently it has become popular to attend community college for the first two years, attaining the A.A. A.S degree and then completing the Bachelors at a regular 4 year institution. This is cheaper if you can work it.

It (usually) is the first 4 years of college where you most likely graduate with a Bachelors of Arts degree or a Bachelors of Science degree. Once you graduate, you can go on to graduate school and classes and receive a Masters degree and then a Phd.

Most community colleges don’t offer four-year degrees. You would have to attend a college or university. Or you could graduate from a community college’s two-year degree program and then transfer to a college or university, and then finish another two years there.

as contrasted to a 2-year undergraduate degree (the associates degree) or a graduate degree (master’s and doctorate).

The name 4-year degree is really a misnomer. Most people don’t finish in 4 years but instead in 5-6 and it is possible to complete the degree in 3 years. Most important is that it requires about 120 semester hours of credit.

Undergraduate degrees are those that don’t require that you already have a bachelor’s degree to enter.

A bachelor’s degree in a nutshell. More education than a two-year associate,less education than a two-year Masters (although you need a Bachelor’s degree to get a Masters)

You get 2-yr. degrees at community college. Degree: AA “Associate in Arts.”

You get 4-year degrees at schools of advanced learning colleges. Degrees, such as: BA “Bachelor of Arts,” or BS “Bachelor of Science.”

in most parts of the world a first degree (the bachelor’s degree) is three years. In the US the education standard is so low that four years are necessary.
