This is what I read.
The thing that you own is more useful or valuable to you than two of those things not available to you.
Although its just one bird, its my bird and I wouldn’t trade it for two of this type of bird flying by.
Its like saying appreciate what you’ve got and don’t go wishing you had more cause they’re out there yes but you probably won’t be able to catch them.
It’s a old saying that was probably designed to promote small thinking and subordination to authority and I don’t much care for it. Now I could be wrong about this meaning so don’t sue me if I am, but that’s what my impression was.
