What does the saying “gone the way of all meat” mean?

Saw it on a blog and wondered what the heck it means, since google returns nothing useful.

Doing a search on “Gone the way of all flesh” will probably give you the results you want. Like others have said, whoever wrote it either got it wrong or tried to be clever.

I’ve always thought it meant “to die,” but I guess it could mean something else depending on the context it was used in.

Yeah, whoever posted it got it wrong. It’s the way of all flesh. And it doesn’t mean that we all die. It means that we all follow our baser instincts. I heard it once in a movie where someone was referring to a guy chasing after a girl and one of the characters said “it’s the way of all flesh, junior, the way of all flesh.”

It’s ‘flesh’ not ‘meat’, and probably from the Bible (someone will tell you). It just means that everything dies eventually.
