What does it mean when you describe someone as a Pharisee?

In the non-biblical meaning of the word?

Someone who works so hard at appearing to be the best or the right way, but fails to live out what they work so hard at learning. In a simple sense, a hypocrite, but moreso, someone who is naive and all about themselves and how much better than everyone else they are. Intellectuals who can’t back up what they talk about, I guess.
