Think of a door that is hinged in the middle. What is the benefit of it? IT swings both ways, like those old western doors.
It means that you are two faced. A “two-faced” person says nice things about people when they are with them, but bad things about them to other people.
Or you “talk out of both sides of your mouth.” It does NOT refer to non-stop talking. It means that you say different things to different people about the same subject. How can you be trusted when “you talk out of both sides of your mouth”?
But the idiom does not merely mean talkative. It is much meaner than that. If you are using it to refer to other people, use it carefully because it is really offensive.
