Its a slang term that can mean multiple things depending on the context, though in most cases (at least of what I’ve heard) it is used as an agreement. Such as this sentence.
Hey Brian, wanna catch a movie later today?
Word man, I’ll be there.
Or in another case in which I’ve commonly heard it can be used as something you say after you’ve acomplished somehting.
Man, we owned that team, word!
