What does fundamental or fundamentally mean?

In simplest terms, what does the word “fundamental” and “fundamentally” mean?

What does it mean when used in sentences like

“the fundamentals of technology” or for that matter the fundamentals of ________ (anything).

and also

“i fundamentally disagree” or “he was fundamentally honest”

Let’s say fundamentals are like bricks and the knowledge or the technology you build is like a brick house. You can lay down your bricks carefully in an orderly fashion to build the walls of knowledge until you complete the house.

Same thing with disagreement; they disagree with the authenticity of the bricks on which the arguments are made.

In logic, an argument is said to be “sound” if it is a valid argument where all of the premises are true. I suppose if something is fundamentally sound, it means that the fundamental idea is based on sound arguments.
