The item you are wanting to order is not available at this time, when more of that item arrives, you’ll be shipped that item (or you’ll be informed that you can pick it up). I find this to happen too frequently with college text books.

When a customers order is placed for an item that is not currently instock, but is on order from vendor and will be delivered when available, the customers order is concidered backordered and the order will be filled when your shipment arrives.
