what about this? which tense of time is suitable to use for the sentence i explained below?

I finished the courses in a institute, and i dont go there anymore.

if i want to make a sentence, which tense should i use? past perfect or present perfect or etc.

I want to make a sentence like this: I have gone to the institute for about 9 years.

If you say, “I have gone to the institute for about 9 years,” it implies that you are still there. You could always use the dates that you started and ended and let the reader figure it out for him/herself. “I attended XYZ Institute from September of 1996 through June of 2005.” Or, just say “I attended XYZ Institute for approximately nine years.”

In a formal letter, always spell out the word “nine” rather than using the numeral, and the word “approximately” sounds better than “about.” The latter is too casual for a formal letter.
