e.g. If my boyfriend says to me: “You have been lying about being married this whole time!” it would mean the whole time we were dating.

this whole time means that.. for a particular length of time.. it refers to something that happens all along that given period
Eg.
‘This book was lying here this whole time and we couldn’t see it!’
