Test my cryptology skills?

I just got into cryptology (and by just, I mean yesterday!) and I don’t have anything to decode…I mean, I can look up codes, but that would be dumb for trying to decode something, because then I’d know what the code was beforehand. So please type a paragraph in code. I just got into this, so please tell me a one-word subject of the paragraph. Also, do you have any tips about cryptology?

Well, any code you get here would be a very simple code, which means that by using a letter frequency chart, you could crack it pretty quickly.

If you want to at least hone your skills, do the Cryptiquote in the paper every day

I won’t write you a paragraph, I’ll refer you to a game called “The Enigma Device” which offers2 cryptograms a day — 1 easy, 1 hard. (Sometimes it goes zipping right past Enigma to something called WordZap, but you just need to hit the back button then.)

http://wordzap.com/enigma/enigma.asp

If you could memorize the alphabet in order by usage, it might help. I learned it as a kid (from a kid’s code book of some sort) and now can only remember E, T, A, I, S, O, N… but that usually gets the job done.

Pretty soon you learn to look for combinations. A 3-letter word that ends in 2 of the same letter is PROBABLY either All or Too. And if a 4-letter word has the same letter as 2nd and 4th, it’s probably “here”. That sort of thing.

A couple hints for Enigma Device — sometimes it’s not a direct exchange between 2 letters. Sometimes you must substitute one letter for another, and then the 2nd one needs to be substituted again. And sometimes they choose quotes or paragraphs that deliberately avoid the most commonly used letters. I got ” ‘Twas brillig and the slithy toves…” once. But that apostrophe at the beginning was a dead giveaway.

Hang in there. You’ll pick it up.

Ok, here’s a simple one:

QZFCD NZCPL DPGPY JPLJPL CDLRZ ZFCQZ CPQLE

SLESP CDMCZ FRSEQ ZCESF AZYEW TDNZY EPYPY TLYPH YLETZY.

LMCLS LXWTY NZWYK

This is just a simple letter shift code. It should be easy.
