Here are a couple of places/things you could consider:

1. using flashcards of words you dont know

2. use the dictionary so you can learn the def. and how 2 spell it

3. if you dont know a word go to google and type in how you think you spell it and it will say “did you mean..”

4. read more books so you can remember more words and visualize it when you need help on how to spell it

5. ask your teacher to give you some worksheets that you can learn how to spell better and then ask him or her to check it the next morning or whenever.

6. maybe you could find a site on the computer or you could find a certain CD for the computer hat could help you

7. get some tutoring from a friend who is good at spelling

8. if you feel that the word is easy and you should know how to spell it but you dont. find out and then write it 5 times.

9. write a little more. as in poetry or maybe a simple journal entery

10. have flash cards and tell your friend to say the word and then you have to spell it without looking.

11. sometimes word games like word searches or crossword puzzels are good.

Get yourself a Spelling book. The techniques are there, like :

1.You can get the spelling of a word by the way they are pronounced. Like words ending in “ous” versus words ending in “uous” or “ious”.

A lot of the words in spelling competitions are not even difficult words, but words with double letters. A lot of people, even professionals, misspell most of these : accommodate, committee, satellite, millennium. battalion. With words like these, you only need to constantly use them.

2. Get yourself a spelling buddy. You will each make the other spell 5 words a day (or 10, or 20). Follow how it is in competitions(even if you are not intending to compete, but this will instill in both of you a seriousness to excel). So, you will first say the word (pronounced properly), use it in a sentence, and then pronounce the word again. You both have to learn how to pronounce the words well. Otherwise, it will be difficult for the other person to spell it correctly.

Or get your mom, dad, siblings, or relatives to quiz you. Better yet, start a family Spelling Bee.

Learning to spell is fun!

i’m a translator and proofreader yet i do no longer suited human beings on the internet until asked to because of the fact those that are no longer linguistically minded do exactly no longer care, that’s a waste of time, and it in basic terms gets on their nerves. That pronounced, undesirable grammar, spelling, and punctuation is disturbingly huge-unfold for the duration of the internet, human beings see it, and, understanding not greater proper, reproduction it; and so the vicious circle is going on until undesirable English is the norm (if it truly is not already). i might could supply up my job to suited each and every of the errors I see in an afternoon’s surfing: this web site is crammed with errors (no longer such as the intentional ones), as many from the preachers of good grammar as from the defenders of illiteracy; the shortcoming or overuse of the apostrophe being the worst (2 Weeks’ observe or 2 Weeks observe? confident, even Warner Bros go incorrect, so what wish for the rest human beings?). And what is going to we do whilst even respected web pages like the BBC are rife with errors? via the way, the spell examine is sensible yet no longer suited. I almost placed “somewhat my job” because of the fact my arms are constantly racing forward typing undemanding words before my techniques reaches them to tell them what they could particularly be typing. The spell examine does no longer have picked that up. It probably does no longer %. up all undesirable punctuation the two, e.g. the version between it truly is and its. This website is particularly no longer that undesirable whilst in comparison with many boards i’ve got seen, so possibly some tolerance could be exercised.

The key to spelling is exposure and repetition. Expose yourself to new vocabulary as often as possible. Reader’s Digest has a section of their magazine each month entitled “It Pays to Enrich Your Word Power” That will help with both vocabulary and spelling. If there are words that give you problems (and all of us have them – I always have to think about the word “receiving”) make flashcards of them and practice them with a friend or family member. Some other ideas for you are doing crossword puzzles or keeping a dictionary in your bathroom. Good luck learning!

Read read and read. The more you read, the better you will be at spelling. You will be more familiar with words’ spellings and their meanings. It doesn’t always matter what you read either, as long as you’re reading. You can read magazines, books, whatever you want.

When in doubt, always refer to a dictionary. Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary is a good one to keep on your desk.

well… if you write the word more than one time you will remember how to spell it then when you have a test you can just visualize what you wrote before and write it again and you can use little tricks like breaking words in to smaller parts like bookkeeper into book and keeper and you can also do things like word puzzles… hope that helped
