Please edit this sentence?

But being around a friend who is constantly “snuggly” with someone is one of my biggest sensitivities, and whenever I would bring it up to him the conversation would always go off on another tangent, with my friend and I arguing.

Ok want to KEEP this as ONE sentence, make sure all the tenses are in agreement and after friend and I shoudl i say ” arguing” or “getting into an agrument”? Also make any other synonyms for words you think need to be changed. This sentence is about feeling uncomfortable with the fact of being “3 in a crowd” when my friend is making out with someone in front of you. Any writers, or teachers, or ones with good writing and grammar skills please reply, thanks
