Just out of curiosity?

We might say, people are curious, generous, hideous and serious, or perhaps, people have curiosity, generosity, hideosity, but never, seriosity. Why have we overlooked such a fine word, as seriosity?

It has a good ring to it, follows the same word ending change rules, as other words when going through a part of speech change and has quite an obvious meaning (Obviosity of meaning? Hm… ).

I won’t even go so far as to mention “famous” and “infamous”, though I am leaning towards “famosity” and “infamosity” instead of the usual fame and infamy.

Actually. I’ve never heard “hideousity”. I HAVE heard of a person’s “hideousness”. English is a strange language, really, isn’t it? Consider, we learn the better part of this strange, difficult language before we are five years of age!

You are thinking too hard. Avoid a brain haemorrhage. Go with the norm.
