If you light the candle you are doing something productive and helping your problem.

If you curse the darkness, what good do you produce from it? Nothing, you just get all worked up over something that you can easily have solved.

Instead of joining in criticism of another, I have the choice of saying something positive or true.

Instead of bemoaning the fact that society is going down hill I can do something friendly within my neighbourhood etc.

It’s always good to feel you are doing something positive (lighting a candle) rather than sinking into the darkness by cursing it.

I want to try to remember this saying and keep building on it in my situation. Thanks Asker!
