Is this sentence gramatically correct?

We learn by creating mistakes for ourselves; it is part of our natural growth.

I don’t know whether to use a semicolon or a comma. >_<

Two independent clauses aren’t separated by a comma. They should be two independent sentences. You can separate two independent clauses with a semi-colon if they’re very closely related. Don’t use a comma.

Use a semicolon. These are two independent clauses; therefore, you should not use the comma. If you used a comma, you would commit a common grammatical error known as a “comma splice” (see below).
