Is ouch an onomatopoeia?

An onomatopoeia is the formation of a word, as cuckoo or boom, by imitation of a sound made by or associated with its referent.

No. Onomatopoeia occurs when the word sounds like what it’s describing. Getting hurt doesn’t sound like “ouch.” However, “bonk” could be if someone hit you on the head with a frying pan!
