Normally, the correct sentence would be: “Neither do I.”

‘Neither’ is the negative form. So if the sentence is negative than ‘me neither’ is more correct.

For instance ‘Either Bill or I could answer this question’ is positive, because we both can do something. ‘Neither Bill nor I can answer this question’ is negative because we can’t do it.

So you could say ‘Bill can’t answer this question and me neither’.

But ‘neither can I’ is better. 8^)

either = one of two choices

neither = not any of the two choices

therefore, it depends on the context of the sentence as to which is the correct word to use.
