Both are correct. (in past tense).

Or alternatively: ” I hope you’ve had a good day.”

It depends on when you’re saying it. If day is over, then you say it the first way. If the day is just ending, but still going on, you say it the second way. That’s language for you. But say it any way you like. Only one in several thousand will know the difference.

Both are grammatically correct. As a matter of preference I would choose the second sentence. It refers to the more recent past. Therefore it makes the statement more relavent to the person.

1)”i hope you will have a good day” (pre-tense)

2)”i hope you are having a good day” (present tense)

3)”i hope you had a good day” (past tense) or

4) “i hope you have had a good day (so far?)” (still present tense)

First thing in the morning, say you hope they have. Last thing at night, say you hope they had.
