Is it correct…?
… to put a question mark at the end of the following sentence?
I wonder why he had to go home so early?
Because to me, it’s a statement… But I always see it punctuated with a question mark… =-\

i don’t think it would have a question mark at the end.. to me it is kinda more of someone’s thought than directly asking..

If you were using this sentence as a thought that you, yourself were thinking, then you would put it in quotes as well as the question mark. However, if you are reading it as I see it here, then I would say no question mark. it is simply something that you were thinking about…

I think it needs a question mark, because it sounds like a question to me. When you “wonder” about something, isn’t that a type of question?

i think it shouldnt be punctuated with a question mark because its more of a statement than a question. if it was a question it would be more direct. its still pretty obscure.

I do agree with the first person who answered your “?”. If you had said, “Why did he go home so early?” Then you would use the “? mark”
