Is ‘garraty’ or ‘garrity’ a word? For example ‘he went garrity’, meaning getting angry.
I’ve heard people often say they went garrity or might go garrity if they lose their temper.
Is it actually a word though? What are the origins to it?

I think the word is used to describe when someone loses their temper and starts waving their arms about. I.E. That bloke went ”Garrity” when he was told his car was clamped. There was a singer called Freddy Garrity, who was a singer in the early 60’s, who when singing would jump around waving his legs and arms about in a very fast and furies manner. Check him out on youtube.

Yes, it’s a word used in southeast England, meaning to display crazed anger. Spelled “garraty.” Originally used by lower-class people and transients (British version of “trailer trash.”)
