In Word, I have no problems inserting the accent marks in writing in Spanish, but not in e-mail. What to do?

Well, here’s three options that work in Yahoo Mail:

1. You can use Alt codes if you have a Windows computer. By holding down the Alt key and then pressing a number code on your number keypad (with the Num Lock on), you can create various characters and symbols. For instance, holding Alt and then pressing 164 will give you ñ. For a list of Alt codes for language accents:

2. You can type your message in Word and then paste it into your email compose box.

3. You can enable the Spanish keyboard on your computer and then whenever you want to type in Spanish, you just switch to Spanish and can type the accents.

It’s very easy to do: Click Start, Control Panel, doubleclick Regional and Language Options, select Languages tab. Then click the Details button, then the Add button. From the dropdown list of input languages, select Spanish from which ever country you’d like, click OK.

There should now be a Language Bar in your taskbar in the lower right of your window. EN means English, ES means Spanish. You can easily switch between the two. Take a few minutes to practice with the keyboard to figure out which key combinations create which accented letter.

EDIT: Sorry the above doesn’t seem to work for you. If you add what your operating system is and what email provider you’re using, maybe someone else can answer for those.
