How would you describe a moose call?
I am writing a story and am trying to figure out a good way to describe how it sounds. thanks

Wow that will take a bit of creativity! I am doing a few bad moose calls now and trying to figure out how to describe them. I’ll describe how I would do one, and maybe that will end up describing the sound.
How about this – imagine picking up a piece of firewood with the center rotted out of it and holding it up to your mouth (or using your hands, but the wood would give a better muffled echo sound). Then in as deep a voice as you can, try to imitate a rusty old barn door hinge as you open the door bit-by-bit, making the sounds “HHUURRRRRrrrrr ………. HHUURRRRrrrrrr ……. rrrrrr …… rrrrrr”
As you read that, I hope you can imagine the sound of the amateur moose call I am doing right now! Hope that helps!
