How to use “cohesive” in a sentence?
Does “His family was supportive and cohesive in his time of need” work? Please give me more examples.

You used the figurative meaning — people sticking together in an emotional sense.
The literal sense is harder, because it involves scientific stuff. For example, “cohesive particles” are particles that stick together when they’re in a liquid.
Unless you can come up with some great scientific examples, I’d stick (sorry — bad pun) with the figurative meaning.
Another sentence: After they have played together for a while, sports teams become very cohesive, and this improves their performance.
Or: Teams of mountain climbers need to be cohesive units.

I'm having trouble with the word. In dictionary.com, an example was " exhibited strong cohesion in the family unit."
