1) Try unplugging your keyboard and shutting off your computer for 15-20 minutes 2) If that doesn’t work, go to Systems Restore START All Programs Accessories System Tools System Restore Then follow the prompts

On my keyboard, it’s at the end of the qwertyuiop[]\ row. If your keyboard doesn’t have it, you can find it in the Character Map.

The Character map is in the list of Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools. Find the character you want, click on it, click the “Select” button at the bottom of the window, click “Copy”. You now have it on your clipboard and can paste it anywhere. I use this method all the time for ¢ and ° and stuff like that.

Sounds like your keyboard settings were originally set to US and they have somehow been changed or defaulted to UK. Go to control panel, Region and Language and make sure all your settings, in particualr the keyboard ones are set to the region you live in or the keyboard layout you want. the one you describe sounds like a US layout.

I didn`t realise how many different places you could find \ on keyboards. On mine it is before Z and in lower case.

Look at your keyboard very carefully. On mine, that symbol is above the ‘enter’ key, and below the ‘back space’ key, and next to the ‘page up’ key.
