B) is correct,

however you could be working on the computer and you may have a question regarding the functionality of the software you are using and THEN it would be correct to say I need a help. Or some thing like that.

The correct answer is:

I need help.

If you use the article “a”, then you can say the following:

I need a helping hand.

Here you are asking directly for someone to help you with the task to perform.

I need help. This is just asking and waiting for someone to offer their help.

Grammar is a fairly simple concept to grasp. Usually, you just need to read a sentence and listen for which one sounds right to you. This doesn’t always work but you should always give it a shot. The answer is B.

As most folks have said, b) is the most likely to be correct – as in almost all examples, it would be the correct phrase.

BUT………. If “help” was a noun – as in short for Home Help, then in fact a) would be the correct choice.

In the UK, “A help” is not a very commonplace noun, however I think in other countries, a “help” is an everyday word for Aide / home-help etc.

A number is not associated with this word. So you don’t ask for one, two, three of them.

This is where a verb is used as a noun. The word assistance is a synonym. You can say “I need an assist.”

B is correct.

B is the correct answer. In the instance with “A” if you were to say that you need a help….then help would be used as a noun, which it obviously is not.

b) I need help

Help is not tangible so you cannot say I need a help. You can say I need a ball, or I need a drink because you can hold those things.

Hope that helps for further questions!!

Well…if you see the right way of saying will be I NEED HELP.

But you could also put it in I NEED A HELP.

Because I NEED HELP DOES NOT STAND TOO POLITE. AS YOU DEFINATELY NEED TO SAY I NEED YOUR HELP, OR I NEED HIS HELP.

I NEED HELP, just alone does not sould too good.

To my knowledge , any language that is spoken must be spoken softly and politely.

I NEED HELP just sound formal, because you needed a help and without asking you wont get it, thats why you just mentioned for fomality sake…I NEED HELP.

But if you add I NEED A HELP / I NEED YOUR HELP , you will definately get a good response from the opposite one. As the politeness in your sentence will cause the opposite guy to prepare him pshycologically to help you out if he can really do it.
