The simple predicate would be “finished” because the subject is “men”.

To figure this out you just distinguish what the subject of the sentence. The predicate tells you something more about the subject. In this sentence the actual predicate would be “finished the game in a short time” so the simple predicate would then be “finished”

Now I may misunderstand the term “simple predicate,” so here’s my thinking:

Every sentence is divided into a subject and a predicate. The “who” and the “what,” if you will. The subject here is “the men”, while the complete predicate is “finished the game in a short time”

The root of that complete predicate is the verb “finished” (while “the game” is a complement to the verb and “in a short time” is an adjunct), so I’m guessing that by “simple predicate”, you need the root to the “complex predicate,” and as I said that is the verb, so B is the answer.

Of course, I may misunderstand the term, so take my answer for what it’s worth.

b finished. the predicate starts at the verb so the predicate would be…..finished the game in a short time. So the SIMPLE predicate is finished.

The simple predicate is the verb in the sentence. The verb in this sentence is ‘finished’; therefore, the correct answer is B.

the answer is ‘b’. ‘finished’

The predicate of a sentence is the word or group of words that tells what the subject is doing or being.

A simple predicate is a verb that meets the above requirement.
