Neither are considered to be correct usage OR polite. It would be preferable to say, “Please may I have…?” or “Could you please give me…?” To just say, “Give me…?” or worse “Gimme…?” bespeaks poor breeding, rudeness, incivility and it’s a bold invitation to be ignored or slapped across the face in all places except perhaps NYC. My response to someone demanding something of me in those terms would be “I’ll be happy to help when you can either a) show some damn manners, or b) ask me in a more polite and civil way.” Children who ask this way are simply ignored in my household. Adults are stared down, walked away from, or told to get “it” for themselves.
