“That’s it!” I screamed. “Get me SOMETHING FOR THE PAIN and NOW!”
“Take it easy honey,” my husband said a little too calmly.
“Take it easy?” I thought. Spoken like a true man! “What do you think I’m doing, lying here for the fun of it, or just because I have extra TIME ON MY HANDS and nothing better to do?”
“Get these twins out of me now!” I yelled.
One child came as a surprise when we were told that I was pregnant, but twins? That was no surprise. That was pure shock.
“Oh gee, here comes another one!” I said starting to scream. “OOWWWW, OOHHHHH, damn.”
“Breathe darling, breathe.”
“I’ll give you breathe buster. I’ll also be KEEPING MY EYES ON YOU from now on. You think nine months was a long time to wait. HA! You’ll never touch me again.”
The nurse stood there watching and listening to us both. I hadn’t finished with her yet either. A pretty little thing smiling and making small talk to me!
“Stubborn wee ones aren’t they?” she softly said. “I think they are bonding in there.”
“Bonding, what the hell do you mean bonding?”
“Well the ultra sound looks like they are laying SHOULDER TO SHOULER. They look so cute.”
“Look here missy, don’t you LIE TO ME and DON’T WASTE MY TIME with your jokes trying to be funny because for some reason I’m in no mood for, AHHHHH, ____, _____, _____.”
“Push, push, push!” my husband encouraged.
“I’ll push you right off the face of this world if you don’t shut up!”
Twenty minutes later we were holding a precious little bundle each and smiling at one another, BUT, if he thinks he’s off the hook yet he’d better think again.
These phrases sound like a country song.
“Don’t waste my time, you do not have another helmet.”
“There is another one under my bed” I replied.
“Don’t lie to me” she threatened.
Upset, I ran back to my house and brought the helmet to show her. Surprised, but still in a serious mood, she agreed to go for a ride with me.
“I’m keeping my eyes on you” she said.
We took a ride through the neighbourhood, and as I came to the intersection, a car ran the red lights and collided with us. I was thrown from the motorbike, and everything went black.
I awoke later in a hospital bed, wondering what had happened to my beloved. I looked outside the door to my room, and there was somebody consoling my friends mother. I wish, I wish there was something for the pain that I could just take…that motorbike was one of a kind.
