I swung my head about quickly. Who was this guy?

“All is at your fingertips, simply ask and you shall recieve. Do not doubt the power of the Cosmos, for you and the Cosmos are One. Come, join me in our One-ness. Meet me at the wishing well.”

Um. The Cosmos? Man, he sounded like he was straight out of some off-beat sci-fi movie, preaching to the unbelieving flock. Surreptitiously, I pinch myself. Nope, not dreaming. He IS following me. Maybe he’s part of the counter intelligence team. Hmmmm. Should I eliminate him now, or later? I follow him to the well.

“In the beginning there were several of the Cosmos who controlled the Universe, but I, I found that more than one was a waste. And I contrived to be the Only One with the Cosmos, The One, and the Only Highest One. But you, my friend, must take the reigns now. I see the Cosmos deep in your soul.”

All right! An offer to take over this universe! The things I could do… World domination, power, wealth. I started to accept. But, wait, what if it was a scam? That if I accept, maybe it will be a life of servitude instead… my life would be a living nightmare, in the space of a second. poof. Just like that!

“Hurry now, little one. Before you did not have the faith, but now, now you are ready. Tell me your name son, and you can be One with the Cosmos.”

Slowly, I began to recite my name, syllable by syllable. He was listening intently. But then-

-“HONEY, DINNER’S READY!”

Quickly, I shut the virtual reality game off, saving my game for later. The pizza was ready!

World domination’ll have to wait for another day.

“Oh ye of little faith”, how can you doubt anything I say, look at me, a dream come true for any woman, there is no other man quite like me, and you would be lucky to have me.

More giggles and rolling of the eyes among us as he yells “In the beginning there was” Adam, he didn’t do very well with Eve. But then his best pick up line was “meet me at the wishing well”.

Because I am the only man in the world who knows how to make a woman the happiest I say “ask and you shall receive”, in fact, you can whisper also, I can hear all.

Then all of a sudden “Poof!! Just like That!!” he was gone, I guess I should have kept my comment to myself ‘not on this planet’.
