application due before date?
I have an application that says “please hand in before the 24th” does that mean it can be handed in on the 24th or is the last day the 23rd?

This is a case where the person who created the application should have been clearer. Many applications will include deadlines; some use the phrase “no later than,” which to me is much better.
Without seeing the application or knowing anything about the company, it’s hard to say exactly what they meant. Taken literally, “before the 24th” means exactly that… BEFORE the 24th, i.e. no later than the 23rd. My advice is to turn it in before the close of business on the 23rd. This way you don’t even have to worry about it.
